Visiting British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond said on Sunday that UK banks are eager to broaden banking cooperation with Iranian banks.
British foreign secretary made the remarks in a meeting with CBI Governor Valiollah Seif.
Measures should be taken to remove bureaucratic hurdles and red tapes to ease expansion of commercial and economic cooperation between the two countries, British foreign secretary said.
London is committed to lift economic sanctions and after freezing Iran's blocked assets, proper measures will be taken for expansion of financial and banking cooperation, Hammond said.
Banks should resume operation immediately after lifting economic sanctions, he said.
Referring to Iran's success in administering macro economy, he said British banks are eager to gain more information about Iranian banks following removal of restrictions.
On reestablishing of banking cooperation between CBI and Britain, Hammond said British central bank as an independent body should consider the message by CBI Governor Valiollah Seif.
