Managing Director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said that the largest resources of gas in the world belong to Iran, but Iran's share from world gas trade is only one percent.
Hamid Reza Araqi made the remarks in inauguration ceremony held for gas network plans in west Azarbaijan province on Tuesday.
He said that Iran owns the largest world gas reserves which amounts to 34 trillion cubic meters, but we do not use appropriately such capacity in world trade as we are consuming all our reserves.
To increase our share in world trade, Iran should pay heed to economizing the product, Araqi said.
He added that the NIGC is trying to expand gas network to all parts of the country in 30 months.
