Managing-Director of Petrochemical Commerce Company Mehdi Sharifi Niknafs said on Friday that because of high transportation costs, it is not economically justifiable for Iran to export its petrochemical products to the United States.
Speaking to IRNA, Niknafs said better markets are available for Iran in other parts of world.
'We have neither plans for exporting petrochemical products to the US nor have we received any calls to do so,' he said.
Iran's priorities for exports of petrochemical products are Asian and European markets, Niknafs said, adding, 'After the lifting of sanctions, we aim to revive our previous market in these regions and find new markets, too.'
He further pointed to the high demand for Iranian petchem products in Latin American markets.
