National Iranian South Oil Company has drilled more than 100,000 meters of development and workover wells during the first 5 months of the current Iranian calendar year which started on March 21, an NISOC official said.
Drilling deputy at NISOC Mohammad Mahdi Zarei said of the spudded wells during the period were 90,000m development and 10,000 meters workover wells.
He said 63 wells have been spudded by the company since March 2015 of which 22 were directional wells.
Zarei said 51 drilling rigs are operating by NISOC in various energy fields of the country, adding the company has undertaken 293 coiled tubing operations on oil and gas wells in the current calendar year.
Furthermore, the company has carried out two underbalanced drilling (UBD) operations based on the latest technical developments in the world.
NISOC is Iran's biggest crude oil producer which accounts for 83% of Iran's crude output and 16% of the country's natural gas production.
