Iran and Oman are planned to sign a deal on appointing an Iranian consultant to conduct study on building a pipeline to carry Iranian gas to Oman, according to National Iranian Gas Exports Company’s Managing Director Alireza Kameli.
Kameli said the deal is projected to be finalized by September 14, the Shana News Agency reported on Saturday.
In March 2014, Iran and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding under which Iran will supply Oman with 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year in a 25-year deal valued at around $60 billion.
A 260-km subsea pipeline to transfer Iranian gas to Oman is expected to come on stream within three years.
The proposed pipeline would connect the Iranian province of Hormozgan to Sohar Port in Oman.
The number of countries seeking to buy gas from Iran has increased after Tehran’s nuclear deal with the world’s major powers.
Also, many countries have announced their preparedness to make investment in Iran’s upstream and downstream gas projects.
