Spanish and Austrian high-ranking economic-political delegations, are scheduled to visit Iran this week to seek investment opportunities, the IRNA News Agency reported on Saturday.
According to the report, the Spanish delegation comprises Foreign Affairs, Industry, Energy and Tourism, and Infrastructure ministries and 70 representatives of some of Spain’s biggest companies. The delegation is scheduled to visit Iran from September 6 to 8 to scout for investment potentials in Iran.
The Austrian delegation, also, will consist of a 200-member panel of political, economic, trade, scientific, cultural and academic figures headed by the Austrian president and minister of Foreign Affairs, the report further noted.
Spain was the 12th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21, according to the Iran Customs Administration.
Also, earlier on September 5, Austrian President Heinz Fischer said that Tehran and Vienna share numerous political and economic interests, calling on the two countries to help boost ties in both fields.
International sanctions on Iran are set to be softened in return for curbs on its nuclear activity under a historic accord struck on July 14 between Iran and the United States, France, Russia, Britain, China and Germany.
The prospect of an easing of trade restrictions has whetted the appetite of European firms interested in winning back and trying business in a country where some used to have bilateral ties.
