Iran would turn to an exporter of gasoline once the Persian Gulf Star Refinery comes on stream next year, an Iranian official said on Monday.
Based on Iranian oil,gas and petrochemical products exporters union,quoting IRNA, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company Naser Sajadi said Iran will need no more gasoline imports next year when a major refinery being built in the Persian Gulf becomes operational.
'Iranians burn over 72 million liters of gasoline a day since the start of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2015) of which 6.4 million liters is imported,' the official added.
With the completion of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, 360,000 barrels per day of gas condensates will be added to the country’s gasoline production.
Iran is building the Persian Gulf Star Refinery in Assalouyeh at an estimated cost of 2.5 billion euros.
The country is building another oil refinery in Kermanshah in western Iran.
