A major Austrian oil company indicated its readiness to purchase crude oil from Iran, following suit with other European companies that have already taken a similar step.
Managing Director of Roth oil group Rudi Roth told Shana on Sunday that the group is mulling plans to start purchasing crude oil from Iran.
He noted that his company cooperated with Iran in crude trade during past years and hoped that following the removal of sanctions against Iran, it would once again start purchasing Iran's oil.
Roth noted that conclusion of Iran's nuclear talks with the P5+1 — the US, the UK, France, Germany, China, and Russia — in Vienna on July 14, which led to an agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), has opened a new chapter in Iran's relations with international community.
According to JCPOA, sanctions against Iran's economic sectors, including oil and gas industry, will be lifted in return for certain restrictions on Tehran's nuclear program.
As a result, Roth added, many oil companies in the world are now willing to resume cooperation with Iran.
"Therefore, we hope that following the removal of sanctions and facilitation of crude oil sales by Iran to European countries, we would be able to resume receiving oil shipments from Iran," he said.
The official further stated that his company can help Iran sell its oil in European markets and transfer Iran's oil to major refineries that cooperate with Roth.
Roth group is one of the biggest oil companies in Austria, which runs a large number of fuel stations as well as a number of small oil refineries across Hungary and Austria. The company has about 30,000 employees and is active in fields related to oil and gas industry.
