Petrochemical and oil products can play a significant role in cooperation between Iran and Russia, said the chairman of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.
Masoud Heidari said in a meeting on trade and investment opportunities in Iran, Russia and Central Asia that post-sanctions conditions have created a new arena for Iran-Russia ties which demands that both countries use their capacities, Shana reported.
On production of petrochemical and oil goods, he added that settlement of differences to reach new agreements will contribute to such cooperation.
"Following the Islamic Revolution, Iran's trade has been focused on China, but relations with Russia have not been properly employed."
Heidari called for activating the agreement signed in 2002 on launching the North-South Corridor for transit of goods from India to Iran and thence to Russia. Investment in railways can cut freight and export charges between Iran and Russia, he added.
