Cambodia is eager to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iran, as part of efforts to boost cooperation with the Islamic Republic in diverse economic fields following the conclusion of nuclear talks between Tehran and world powers, Cambodian foreign minister said.
At a meeting with the Iranian Ambassador to Cambodia Hossein Behineh on Monday, Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong expressed his country's willingness to forge closer trade ties with Iran in various economic arenas, including oil and gas industry, Khmer Times reported.
Chum Sunry, a spokesman for Cambodia's Foreign Ministry, said the MoU is expected to be inked next year adding, "The two countries will strengthen cooperation in all sectors for the benefit of the people of the two nations."
Behineh also hoped that the MoU will be signed next year during Hor Namhong's visit to Tehran.
Following the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, European business executives and politicians are shuttling to Iran to lay the groundwork for investment and trade.
The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran once it comes into force.
