Iranian, Omani oil ministers stress expediting gas pipeline project
In a meeting between Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh and Oman’s Minister of Oil and Gas Mohammed Al Rumhy in Tehran on Monday, the two sides stressed expediting implementation of the project to build a pipeline which is planned to carry Iranian gas to Oman.

Zanganeh said financing the gas pipeline project was discussed in the meeting, according to the Shana News Agency.

Meanwhile, the minister announced about cooperation with the Omani companies for the sales of oil and petrochemical products.

He said Omani firms are also eager to cooperate with Iran in development of oil and gas projects in the Islamic Republic.

Iran welcomes their willingness and hopes that its ties will be expanded with Oman, the official added.

Oil and gas negotiations between the two countries were decided to be followed up seriously.

Also, on the verge of the trip of Al Rumhy to Iran, two deals were signed on appointing Iranian consultants to conduct study on the gas pipeline project.

In this regards, Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) was selected to conduct onshore study of the project.

The related deal was signed by National Iranian Gas Exports Company's Managing Director Alireza Kameli, IOEC’s Managing Director Gholamreza Manouchehri and Saif Bin Hamad Al Salmani, the director general of planning and projects evaluation in Oman’s Ministry of Oil and Gas.

Also, Pars Consulting Engineering Company was selected to conduct onshore study of the project. The related deal was signed by the managing director of company and Alireza Kameli.

In March 2014, Iran and Oman signed a memorandum of understanding under which Iran will supply Oman with 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year in a 25-year deal valued at around $60 billion.

A 260-km subsea pipeline to transfer Iranian gas to Oman is expected to come on stream within three years.

The proposed pipeline is projected to transfer natural gas from Iran’s South Pars gas field to Oman’s Sohar port.
