Japan Can Regain Its Position in Iran’s Market: Zarif
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday said the grounds are prepared for the expansion of Tehran-Tokyo economic ties, particularly after the recent conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and world powers.

After the JCPOA, the text of a comprehensive deal over Tehran’s nuclear energy program finalized on July 14, the grounds are prepared for the development of economic relations between Iran and Japan, Zarif said in a meeting with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Kentaro Sonoura in Tehran.

“By making investments in different sectors, Japan will be able to regain its previous economic position in Iran’s market,” the Iranian minister added.

He further referred to his upcoming meeting with Japan’s Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, saying the meeting would help promote Tehran-Tokyo ties further.

Sonoura, for his part, said Japan attaches great significance to its relations with Iran, and expressed the hope for the reinforcement of economic ties between the two sides.

The meeting came against the backdrop of a new wave of renewed interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The comprehensive nuclear deal between Iran and the six powers would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran's economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
