Italian Ministries of Economic Development and Foreign Affairs along with Institute for Foreign Trade (I.C.E), and the Banking Union, Industries Union and the Union of Chambers of Commerce are planning to launch an economic mission to Iran following the Iran-G5+1 nuclear agreement and lifting of sanctions.
Deputy Minister for Economic Development Carlo Calenda will head the delegation in its visit to Iran which comes on the heel of recent visit of Italian Economic Development Minister Federica Guidi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Paolo Gentiloni to Tehran.
Daily Milano Finanteze wrote that Italy's economic mission will start its Tehran visit on November 28.
On November 30, meetings will be held between Iranian and Italian officials and businessmen.
The share of Italy in Iran's imports lowered to 1.7 percent in 2014 from 6.1 percent in 2005.
In the mission, more than 100 Italian companies and banks will be present and their cooperation in Iran will focus on environment, renewable energy, mechanics, medicine, fuel, construction and auto making.
With a gross national product (GNP) of $484 billion, Iran is second after Saudi Arabia in the Middle East in terms of economic position and is second after Egypt in terms of population in North Africa.
