Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri on Tuesday voiced Tehran’s preparedness to boost cooperation with China in energy fields.
Tehran is ready to ink long term contracts in oil and gas industries with China, Jahangiri said in a meeting with Zhang Yi, the head of China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) in Tehran.
He said Iran-China Joint economic commission meeting can help broaden cooperation and also prepares grounds for the implementation of projects agreed by the two sides.
The Iranian vice-president further asked China to allocate at least $30 billion to finance joint projects as well as industrial plans in Iran.
China is now regarded as the biggest trade partner of Iran, Jahangiri reiterated, adding that it is expected to witness new chapter economic cooperation between the two countries.
He also expressed the hope that China would play a much more active role in the construction of new nuclear power plants in Iran through direct financing.
Jahangri also appreciated stance of the China during nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers and described it as constructive.
Also at the meeting, Chinese envoy, conveyed warm greetings of Chinese prime minister to the Iranian vice-president on Eid al-Adha, and said Chinese officials are determined to broaden relations and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
