Director General of the Customs Office of Ilam Province Khalil Heydari said trade activities and export of commodities resumed from Mehran international border.
Speaking to IRNA, Heydari said trade activities and export of commodities resumed from the border last Thursday but upon the request of the Iraqi side was stopped for four days due to Eid al-Adha holiday.
He further remarked that as of Monday morning and with the start of export activities at Mehran border market place, border exchanges between Iran and Iraq were resumed and Iranian and Iraqi tradesmen are busy with their daily activities.
The official noted that on average $2.5 million worth of Iranian commodities are exported to Iraq on daily basis on 500 trucks and trailers.
The city of Mehran is situated 88 km southwest of Ilam and Mehran international border is one of the most important passages for the pilgrims of the holy shrines and export of Iranian goods to Iraq.
