Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said meeting the increasing domestic demand as well as boosting export of gas and presence in the global market are among important plans of the company.
“By completion of the sixth national development plan, export will boost from 10 bcm to 66 bcm annually,” Shana quoted Hamid-Reza Araqi saying at the HSE in Gas Industry conference on Tuesday.
The performance of the gas industry in the past two years has been unprecedented, he said, adding that the trend will continue in the coming two years.
With 33 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves and production capacity of 600 million cubic meters of gas per day, Iran has plans to increase its gas production capacity for domestic and international markets.
In view of gas pipeline network, Iran ranks second in the region after Russia.
Appropriate infrastructure including gas pipeline, compressor stations and gas processing plants plus suitable geographical location provide the possibility for the Islamic republic of Iran to export gas.
