Deputy Oil Minister in charge of Gas Affairs, Hamid-Reza Araqi said on Saturday that after clinching the final deal between Iran and G5+1 under which a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was laid, grounds for exports of Iranian gas via Turkey will be viable.
Export of Iran's gas to the neighboring states will be very cost-effective, he said adding that experts believe that to capture the overseas markets, Iran should change its gas products to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to be more economic.
Possessing huge gas reserve, Iran as ample resources to export its gas to other countries, he said.
Export of gas through Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan is also feasible for Iran, and make the country an active player in the world market, he said.
Iran exported about 10 billion cubic meter of gas in 2014.
Iran is now exporting gas to Turkey, and plans are in the pipeline to start exports to Iraq next year.
Feasibility studies for export of gas to Oman, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have been conducted.
