Senior Advisor to Energy Minister for industrial and technology development and power supplies Homayoun Hayeri said on Monday that Iran welcomes German direct investment or cooperation with Iranian companies on building power plants.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Lower Saxony Minister of Economic, Labor and Transport Olaf Lies.
Hayeri said that Germany is producing 90,000 megawatts solar and wind energy, which is more than total Iranian electricity output capacity.
Although Iran is generating electricity by its fossil fuel power plant, but Energy Ministry policy is willing to use renewable energy.
Hayeri said that Iran has big capacity to produce solar and wind energy, but unfortunately it can not use existing capabilities.
He added that Germany generate 90,000 megawatts solar and wind energy, while Iran's total electric capacity is 74,000 megawatts now, including fossil, hydro, wind and solar power plants.
Olaf Lies, for his part, said that his country has very useful experience in the field of renewable energies and is ready to transfer know-how to Iran.
He added that Germany is providing 25 percent of its energy from renewable energy and said that Germany is aiming to exit from nuclear energy and until year 2050 will provide more than 80 percent of its energy from renewable energy.
The German official said that Iran has rich gas resources, so it is better to use combined cycle power plant by using gas, wind and solar energies.
He added that electricity price is high in Germany, so in the area of consumption management, Germany has valuable experience which could be put at disposal of Iranian partners.
