Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mines Sudirman Said said Jakarta and Tehran have agreed to invest on building refineries, hydro-electric power plants and to supply liquid gas to Indonesia.
Talking to reporters after his last week visit to Iran, he said that the Indonesian government is going to use Iran’s hydro-electric technology to meet the demands in Indonesia.
He said his trip to Iran followed the visit of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Indonesia after which the two countries held their first-ever joint commission after years of delay in Tehran.
Said visited Iran to review ways to develop economic cooperation on October 14.
Upon agreements between Iran and Indonesia signed in Tehran last June, Iran will construct small oil refineries by 20,000 to 300,000 bpd capacity in Indonesia.
The joint venture project is worth around 3 billion dollars, and Iran has 30 percent share.
During his visit to Tehran, the Indonesian minister met with a number of officials including Iran’s Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian.
During the meeting, Chitchian voiced Iran’s readiness to cooperate with Indonesia in energy generation.
Said, too, urged Iran to make investments in Indonesia energy sector saying that Iran has taken big steps to produce renewable energies and Indonesia is interested to cooperate with Iran in the field of hydro-electric power plants.
