Thai deputy prime minister will arrive in Tehran at the head of a 50-member high-ranking delegation to discuss economic ties with Iran.
The visit, scheduled for mid-December, follows the approval of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the removal of unfair Western sanctions against Iran, IRNA reported.
Thai government is seeking to increase exports and win confidence of foreign investors to boost the country's development.
Over 50 businesspeople from the construction, foodstuff, banking, insurance and transport sectors will accompany Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak on the trip to Tehran.
Thailand's deputy commerce minister Suvit Maesincee, who will also accompany the visiting delegation, has said that after the lifting of embargoes against Iran, most foreign investors — American and European states in particular — are keen on investing in the country.
He further underlined increased relations between the Iranian and Thai tradesmen, governments and private sectors.
He noted that agreements are expected to be signed during the upcoming visit to Tehran.
Thai exports to Iran hit $168 million in the past six months — down by 31.5 percent against the figure for the same period last year. Its main exports to Iran include wood products, conserved fruits, fishing net, auto spare parts and beverage.
During the same period, Thai imports from Iran which included chemicals, vegetables, fruits, pharmaceuticals, fresh and frozen aquatics reached $90.6 million — up 384 percent compared to the figure for the corresponding time span last year.
