Iran's deputy industries minister announced a plan to send commercial attachés to Germany, France, Italy and Spain and said 25 Iranian advisors will also be stationed in a number of countries by the end of December
Speaking on the sidelines of the fifth meeting of business advisors in Tehran, Valiollah Afkhami-Rad said, "We are currently selecting representatives for Europe; the attachés will be stationed in Germany, France, Italy and Spain to determine problems and offer solutions for developing exports of goods and services," according to Mehr News Agency.
Afkhami-Rad noted that Iran's global business links were suspended due to sanctions and many commercial attachés had left their missions unfinished and returned to Iran.
"With the resumption of trade and economic activities 18 months ago, we conducted surveys to select suitable target countries for posting commercial counselors," the official added.
He pointed to the decision of the Council of Ministers to let the industries ministry have advisers in 30 countries and said, "The attachés are selected on the basis of Iran's trade transactions and they will seek to increase commerce with target countries."
He added, "Iranian businessmen expect the attachés to have an operational presence in the target market and provide a suitable response to their demands."
Iran' s industries minister has urged the stationing of commercial attachés to target countries and giving them a more prominent role than an embassy employee.
"The attachés need to promote economic relations between Iran and other countries and possess comprehensive information on the potentials and capacities of Iran's industrial, mining and agriculture sectors," concluded the deputy industry minister.
