Iran is ready to export gas to Europe, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Mohammad Hossein Adeli said on Sunday.
Speaking to IRNA, he noted that Iran is able to export gas to Europe via its LNG terminals or gas pipelines.
Iran, a country with high gas reserves, has good potentials for presence in the world gas market, Adeli added.
Giant global gas producers will convene on November 23 in the third summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Tehran to exchange views on gas export and output.
The high-level gathering, attended by all GECF’s 18 members, will be pivotal for almost all countries as any measures taken in the event will exercise heavy influence on the economic prospect of countries in general and gas-fed industries in particular.
“18 members of GECF have been finalized to attend the forum in Tehran”, Adeli has been quoted as saying.
The forum will be held against a backdrop of lately turbulent supplies and demands in the global gas market.
Coming to a consensus on a strategic gas blueprint and global gas outlook is mooted to be on the agenda. Besides, the members are projected to have talks on other areas, including the forum itself.
The GECF consists of 18 main and supervisory memberships with its permanent secretariat positioned in Doha, Qatar. Russia, Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman are main members of the gas exporting body.
Supervisory countries are the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Iraq, and Norway.
GPCE members account for 42 percent of global gas output, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of pipe gas transmission, and 65 percent of global trade of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
