Iran, Kuwait discuss gas export
Referring to the new round of gas negotiations between Iran and Kuwait, managing director of the NIGEC described two scenarios for exporting natural gas to Arab country.

On the latest status of negotiations with Arabic countries in order to export Iran’s natural gas during the post-sanction era, Alireza Kameli said, “Kuwaitis are looking to import natural gas from Iran.”

Emphasizing the seriousness of the ongoing talks with Kuwaitis, Managing director of National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) stated “so far, we have defined two scenarios to transfer natural gas from Iran to Kuwait.”

“One of the routes for transporting Iranian gas to Kuwait crosses the Basra region, which enabkes Iran to connect its gas network to Kuwait by constructing a short pipeline,”

Reminding that the second transport path would be from Ganaveh port in the Persian Gulf, he said: “Iran's gas can be transferred to Kuwait via the sea using this path.”

Pointing to Kuwait’s request to buy a high volume of Iranian natural gas, Kameli said the details of the contract will be announced after the finalization of negotiations.

Kuwaiti oil minister had earlier said one of the objectives and policies facing his country’s energy industry would be importing gas from Iran in order to supply power plants.

The official further announced the beginning of negotiations with some Emirati companies asserting “in addition to Kuwait, we have made some talks with the United Arab Emirates to export gas through pipelines.”
