Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Shapur Mohammadi said on Monday that Iran's Doing Business ranking has lowered to 118 from 152 in 2014 in the list of 189 economies.
Mohammadi told a press conference, Iran has voiced opposition to the World Bank's annual “Doing Business” ranking on the belief that its real ranking is better than the announced figures.
He said the World Bank announces the rankings based on the data gained out of the questionnaires filled up by economic activists on ease of doing business.
Economies are ranked on their ease of doing business, from 1–189. A high ease of doing business ranking means the regulatory environment is more conducive to the starting and operation of a local firm. The rankings are determined by sorting the aggregate distance to frontier scores on 10 topics, each consisting of several indicators, giving equal weight to each topic. The rankings for all economies are benchmarked to June 2015.
