Istanbul to host Iran-Turkey tradesmen meeting

Istanbul to host Iran-Turkey tradesmen meeting
The largest meeting of the Iranian and Turkish businesspersons will be held in Istanbul on December 3-6, said Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry's director of Commercial Training Center.

Talking to IRNA, Abbas Khaleqi-Tabar added that commercial talks and visiting selected Turkish industries are among the side programs of the upcoming gathering.

Concurrent with the meeting of Iranian and Turkish tradesmen, the 25th International Plastic and Machinery Industries Exhibition and the 40th International Computer and Digital Games Exhibition and Exhibition of Home Appliances and Decoration will be held in Istanbul.

The upcoming meeting will pave the ground for interaction with Turkish Council of Foreign Trade Economy as the entity in charge of promoting the country's trade and investment, negotiations with the head of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, face-to-face talks with Turkish merchants, exchange experience and transfer of technology as well as visiting the three international and specialized exhibitions in Istanbul.

Referring to increasing trend of the two countries foreign trade since 2010, Khaleqi-Tabar said that Turkey is one of the advanced countries in the field of trade development in the region.

Putting the annual imports of Turkey at around $250 billion from different countries, he said that Iran's share of the country's market is lower than five percent.

Khaleqi-Tabar pointed out that Iran's trade balance with Turkey is positive because of gas, oil and oil derivatives exports.

'We should increase our interaction with Turkey in all fields,' he said, noting that all capacities of Turkey as a complementary country should be used.

They should not stand in competition with each other; rather they should act as complementary to each other, he added.

In addition to being a suitable commercial partner in production and exports, Turkey can serve a gateway to European market, the official said.
