A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed here on Wednesday to establish a working committee to further develop the roadmap on trade and economic cooperation in light of coordination between the Iranian and Turkish chambers of commerce.
The MOU was signed between the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture and Union of Turkey's Union of Chambers of Commerce and Stock Exchange Markets (TOBB).
The MOU was signed after negotiations held by the heads of the Iranian and Turkish chambers Mohsen Jalalpur and Turkey's Hisar Jikli Uglu.
Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Ali-Reza Bigdeli and the Iranian Embassy Economic Attaché Hamid Zadbume were present in the signing ceremony.
The head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Jalalpur referred to the beginning of a new era in Iran which is very appropriate for making investments and conducting economic activities.
'Iran will be in this new era trying to establish its non-oil economy in which strengthening the private sector will be a high priority,' he said.
Jalalpur said that although the Turkish firms do not have high investments in Iran they are very successful in their small trade, adding that the ground will be prepared for expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
TOBB Chief Hisar Jikli said that his affiliated union is the largest private sector economic establishment of Turkey and is in active contact with major international organizations.
'TOBB is now ready for broad-scale cooperation with Iran Chamber, including transfer of commercial experience,' he said.
He noted that the Turkish chamber of commerce established an organization called the Economic and Political Research Foundation, adding that despite its short life of ten years has established an academic center called the University of Economy and Technology.
