Finland to seek business opportunities in post-sanctions Iran
Finnish Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka is scheduled to lead a 70-member economic delegation to Tehran on December 7–10 to seek new business opportunities in Iran once sanctions are removed against the Islamic Republic.
The members of the delegation represent companies in the fields of bioeconomy, environmentally clean technologies, information and communications technology (ICT) and construction, according to the Fars News Agency.

Regarding her upcoming trip to Iran, Toivakka said: “This is an excellent opportunity for us to introduce our cutting-edge technologies in several sectors to the emerging market of Iran”.

The Finish delegation is scheduled to meet top Iranian economic officials as well as private sector representatives.

Back in September, Finish President Sauli Niinisto held talks with Iranian Vice President and Head of Iran’s Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar on ways to boost economic relations.

In the meeting, Niinisto had expressed hope that barriers to trade ties would be lifted with the removal of the anti-Iran sanctions.

Business delegations from around the world have flocked to Iran since the July 14 deal, in which Tehran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for an end to economic sanctions that have hit the country’s economy.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani says there is a global surge of interest in new business opportunities in Iran, adding the country is ready to open its arms to international entrepreneurs if they bring in investment and technology.
