The Russian oil company, Lukoil, is keen to return to Iran's Anaran oilfield in the western province of Ilam, the company's president said after his meeting with Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh in Vienna, IRNA reported. "
Vagit Alekperov told reporters after the meeting that he also offered a number of proposals to the Iranian oil official to development of the field.
Before the US-engineered sanctions were imposed on Iran, Lukoil joined by a consortium conducted exploration activities in Anaran oil field, which led to discovery of Azar and Changoleh oil well.
"Changoleh is regarded as one of Iran's intact oilfields the country shares with neighboring Iraq. The field is very attractive to foreign firms inasmuch as three Russian as well as a Croatian companies have indicated keenness to operate the field in the post-sanctions setting.
Phase I development of the field is expected to take some 40 months with a daily output of 15,000 bpd.
Once completed, Phase II development of the field will bring its output to 50,000 bpd. "
Zangeneh arrived in Vienna on Thursday morning to attend the December 4 meeting of the members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
