Iran launched LNG Research Institute in a bid to step into global gas trade, said an official in the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) on Saturday.
“We have plans to found a mini LNG pilot with the science and technology department in the Presidential Office which marks the birth of a specialized research institute in the field of LNG,” NIGC Director of Research and Technology Saeid Pakseresht told Shana.
The operation of the research institute follows NIGC’s plans to launch five LNG projects in three years to increase its share in the global gas trade.
“The institute will bridge the gap between the university and industry,” he added.
Through establishing contacts with foreign science-based firms, said the official, the institute will bring in part of the know-how to develop Iran's LNG technologies.
