Iran, Finland Discuss Cooperation in Oil Projects
Iranian Deputy Petroleum Minister for International Affairs Amir-Hossein Zamani-Nia and visiting Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Lenita Toivakka in a meeting here reviewed areas of cooperation in the oil industry in the wake of removal of sanctions.

“Iran has defined and put on the agenda environment-friendly projects in oil, gas, refining, and petrochemical fields. Finland’s world-class capacities in this area can be employed by Iran in the post-sanctions era,” Zamani-Nia told Shana.
Although Finland does not have a powerful oil and gas industry, he added, it enjoys a noteworthy rank in the industry’s modern technology.

Iran has numerous opportunities in the oil industry, particularly in the petrochemical industry which is unique, the deputy Iranian minister said.

“The Finish minister expressed her country’s interest for long-term cooperation with Iran. Their firms are not merely after marketing their equipment. Rather, they intend to work in Iran in various fields through transfer of update technology,” Zamani-Nia said.
Prior to the meeting in the Ministry of Petroleum, Toivakka said Iran abounds with investment opportunities for Finland, expressing hope that the deal will be a beginning for expanding mutual relations with Iran.

Addressing the first Iran-Finland Business Seminar held in Tehran on December 8, she hailed Iran as a significant country in the Middle East Region, and voiced her country's readiness to strengthen relationships with Iran.
"Iran is an important business and political partner for Finland and today we need to establish relations and make interactions with the Middle East region more than any other time," she said.

Referring to a historical flashback to long-standing economic ties between Iran and Finland, Toivakka said her country is looking forwards to strengthening its commercial relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
She also said Iran can benefit from her country’s world-class telecommunication advances, environment-friendly technologies, bio-economy and forestry, waste management programs, water and mining sectors, infrastructure, and construction sectors.
