Rosneft Eyes Share in Iran’s Oil Industry
President of Rosneft, Russia’s biggest petroleum company, met Iran’s oil minister on Tuesday, trying to catch up with the other Russian rivals that are impatient to invest in Iran’s oil industry.

Leading a delegation from Rosneft, Igor Sechin held talks with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh in Tehran on Tuesday, expressing the giant company’s readiness to invest in Iran’s oil projects.

Rosneft, the world’s largest publicly traded petroleum company, tries not to lag behind its fellow rivals, such as Lukoil and Zarubezhneft, when it comes to Iran’s lucrative oil industry.

Oil companies are eyeing projects in Iran, which has one of the world’s largest oil reserves, after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over Tehran’s nuclear energy program in the Austrian city of Vienna.

The comprehensive nuclear deal would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
