In a meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said Iran is ready to develop its ties with Azerbaijan in the field of renewable energies.
Chitchian said negotiations have been already made between Iran and Azerbaijan to build wind and solar power plants in two Iranian cities and related projects will be implemented in the near future, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported on Sunday.
Iran-Azerbaijan relations are being expanded rapidly following removal of sanctions against the Islamic Republic, the minister noted.
Mustafayev, for his part, expressed happiness over his visit to Iran and referring to the issue of synchronizing the electricity transmission grids of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia, he expressed hope that the technical issues will be settled in this regard.
Azerbaijan was the 12th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, with importing $435.347 million of non-oil goods from Iran and exporting $22.22 million of non-oil goods to the country.
In 2014, Azerbaijan was the second biggest export market of Iranian non-oil goods after Turkmenistan among the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
