Commercial Director of National Iranian Tanker Company Nasrollah Sardashti said the first Iranian oil tanker berthed at an African port following cancellation of sanctions.
He said that tanker fleet of the company has no problem technically or operationally to shuttle between European ports, adding that since January 2016 and following implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the company has tried to achieve ranking, flag and oil tanker insurance and as a result, issues related to flag and fleet class were solved completely.
Concerning the issue of insurance, Sardashti added that following consultations and follow up work the problem was removed and NITC would soon join the international insurance clubs and visit European terminals and other big oil terminals across the globe.
He said that the NITC fleet could only berth at ports of six selected countries for oil export, but now they can enter other ports.
Sardashti said that following removal of anti-Iran sanctions one of NITC tankers was rented by a big oil company.
All tankers belonging to NITC were operational and active in the past Iranian calendar year and now 90 percent of them are involved in oil exports.
