With exporting over 31 million liters of mazut since March, Iran has become the world’s biggest exporter of this fuel oil, head of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) said Friday.
Seyed Naser Sajjadi told Mehr News that with a drop in mazut consumption in the country, the volume of its exports have exceeded 31 million liters per day, thus making Iran the biggest exporter of this oil product.
Before the sanction years, Iran’s mazut export mounted to 600 thousand tons per months half of which was dispatched to Singapore.
The NIOPDC director general also maintained that Iran’s LNG exports, except for the exports done by petrochemical companies and gas refineries, have increased over 500 tons in a day.
Sajjadi deemed Pakistan the biggest regional client for Iran’s LNG, adding “Iran’s LNG shipments are also dispatched to other neighboring countries such as Afghanistan.”
Since March 20, about 13.5 million liters of mazut has been consumed daily in the country, while during the same period last year, the daily consumption of the fuel oil stood at about 24.5 million liters, he said.
Meanwhile, Iran has exported 9-9.2 million liters of diesel fuel to global markets since last month which indicates a double increase in the volume of diesel exports as compared to about 5 million liters in the same period of time last year.
