Iran has planned to open 10 new petrochemical complexes till the end of this Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2016), Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shah-Daei said.
She made the remarks in the opening ceremony of sulfuric acid production unit of Orumieh Petrochemical complex in northwest of Iran.
With inauguration of Lorestan Petrochemical Complex in last month and opening the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex in Khordad(May-June), 10 new petrochemical complexes will be inaugurated this year, the official added.
She also declared that the private sector is scheduled to invest 600 billion rial for execution of the Potassium sulfate production unit of Orumieh Petrochemical Complex with the annual capacity of production of 40,000 tons.
Shah-Daei noted that some of the new petrochemical complexes are on the way of West Ethylene Pipeline.
A chain of other production units including the production units of Ammonium Sulfate and Potassium Sulfate can also be added to the Orumieh Petrochemical Complex, she added.
