Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh said here on Wednesday that Iran has not negatively impacted the oil market by doubling the country's crude oil exports.
Zangeneh made the remarks on the verge of the 169th ordinary meeting of the members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna, Austria, due on June 2, 2016.
He reiterated that OPEC is an organization to maximize its members' interests by ensuring stability in the market.
'If OPEC plays this role, the Islamic Republic of Iran will support its goals and principal structure,' he said.
He underscored that Iran has doubled its crude exports and the increase has not affected the market negatively, but have been absorbed properly by the market.
The minister added seven candidates from Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Equator and Venezuela have been selected for OPEC secretary general's post.
Zangeneh is scheduled to travel to Vienna today to attend the 168th OPEC meeting.
