South Pars Gas Complex launched trains 3 and 4 of the sulfur recovery unit of its 6th refinery.

Refinery Director Mehran Douj told Shana that the project will turn all acid gas output of the sweetening unit of the refinery into sulfur with a daily production capacity of 420 tons.
The unit prevents flaring of toxic gasses by the refinery, thus preserving the regional environment, he added.

Phases 15 and 16 are being developed for the production of 50 mcm/d of sweet gas for consumption in the household, commercial and industrial sectors of the country.
Besides, production of 80,000 b/d of gas condensate, 1.05 mt/y of LPG, 1 million tons per year of ethane for feeding petrochemical plants and 400 ton/day of sulfur are envisaged in the development of the projects.
