European countries are after Iran's petrochemical products in post-sanction era, said the production control manager of National Petrochemical Company (NPC), adding that exports to Latin America and Africa are being expanded.
Ali Mohammad Bosaqzadeh said about 30 percent of Iran's petrochemical products were exported to Europe but anti-Iran sanctions caused the gradual removal of the green continent's market from the list of Iran's customers, IRNA reported.
Bosaqzadeh said that export of petrochemical products to countries including Iran's traditional customers particularly those in South and Southeast Asia are going ahead as per earlier plans.
He added that about 10 million tons of petrochemical products were exported during March 20-September 21.
He called on petrochemical complexes to upgrade the quality of their products to enter international markets.
Iran's annual production capacity for petrochemical products currently stands at 61 million tons and this figure will be increased to 120 million tons by 2025-26.
About 19 million tons of petrochemical products worth $9.5 billion were exported in the year to March 20.
