Iran plans to hold a major international tender for LNG projects, said managing director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
Ali Kardor told Tasnim News Agency on Tuesday that the tender will be put out to global contractors in the near future.
The NIOC has been in talks with a number of major firms to attract more foreign investment in LNG projects, he added.
The official said that the Oil Ministry is conducting preliminary studies on diversifying gas export routes.
Iran has the world's second largest proven gas reserves after Russia, with a potential to become a top producer. It plans to build a capacity to export 40 million metric tons of LNG a year.
