Iranians have chosen the path of interaction with the world away from extremism and violence, Financial Times (FT) quoted President Hassan Rouhani as saying after his reelection as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Quoting President Rouhani's televised speech following his landslide victory in Friday's presidential election in Iran, the English international daily newspaper wrote, 'Today, Iran is standing taller than at any time before and is ready to expand its relations with the world based on mutual respect and national interests.”
“Today, the world knows that Iranians have chosen the path of interaction with the world away from extremism and violence.”
“The vote showed that Iranians had rejected a “return to the past” and wanted to continue on the path of reform,” Financial Times quoted Rouhani as saying on Saturday.
In the 12th presidential election held in Iran and 102 countries across the world on
Friday, Hassan Rouhani obtained over 23 million votes (57 percent of total votes) and was announced the winner of the election.
More than 70 percent of eligible voters participated in the election.
