Iranian petrochemical plants produced 18 million tons of products in the first 4 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, a new record in the industry's 4-month output.
Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), says given the sector's performance in the period, the country will break a new record in petrochemical output in the current calendar year.
He said nearly 60% of petrochemicals produced by Iran are exported, adding the rest is sold on the domestic market.
Bossaqzadeh further added that the country is estimated to supply 56 million tons of petrochemicals during this calendar year from last year's 51 mt.
This output will be 86% of the country's rated production capacity.
