Bandar Lengeh has received the Integrated Management System (IMS) certificate in the course of final verification of environmental, safety and vocational health and quality management in the marine transportation industry.
Speaking to reporters, Director of Ports and Shipping Department of Bandar Lengeh Esmail Makkizadeh said from now on the port city can use international marks and logos of IMS on its papers and in its correspondences according to the set regulations.
He said IMS consists of three 9001, 18001 and 14001 ISOs integration of which in a collection will reduce verification sessions, concentration of related organizations, monotony of implementation and many other cases.
Makkizadeh noted that receiving IMS certificate was the result of the success of organizations in coordinating managerial systems with the required genuine standards on the basis of regulations of valid verifying companies.
Bandar Lengeh by possessing 17 jetties and 40 hectares of shore is the main port in west of Hormuzgan and plays a significant role in the marine economy. In addition to export of commodities, it is active in transit, import and cabotage activities.
Connection to the road network from three sides, suitable geographical location of the port, proximity to the Strait of Hormuz and international waters and strong relationship with the citizens of the Persian Gulf littoral states have turned Bandar Lengeh into one of the main marine trade hubs in the northern coasts of the Persian Gulf.
The port city of Lengeh is situated 240 km southwest of Bandar Abbas, capital of Hormuzgan Province.
