A Senior Iranian official says high-ranking Italian and German trade delegations are expected to visit Iran in the near future.
“During the past several weeks, Germans have had correspondence with Iran to make necessary arrangements for the presence of a high-ranking trade delegation in Tehran for holding talks with Iranian merchants,” deputy minister of industry, mine and trade Hossein Esfahbodi told the Mehr News Agency.
“Also we have received a request from Italy for the visit by a 300-strong trade delegation which plans to review trade and investment opportunities in Iran,” he said, adding that there has been a significant rise in the number of visits by foreign trade delegations to Iran in recent months.
The managing director of Iran’s Trade Exhibition Company also pointed to the growing participation of American companies in the exhibitions held in Iran and said there has been no official request by the US for dispatching trade delegations to Tehran.
A growing number of Western trade delegations have been regularly visiting Iran in recent months in an effort to grab a slice of the long untapped market once the unilateral sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear program are lifted.
