Iran produced 11.5 million tons of petrochemical products in spring, which corresponds to the first three months of the Iranian calendar year.
The petrochemical output stood at 3.7 million tons in the third Iranian calendar month of Khordad (May 22-June 21), the Shana news agency reported on Tuesday.
Some 2.7 million tons of petrochemical products, worth about 21 trillion rials (about $700 million based on free market rate), were sold in the domestic market, while one million ton of products, worth $9 billion, were exported.
Iran plans to increase its annual petrochemical production by 900,000 tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year, Marzieh Shahdaie, the director for projects at Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said in May.
The country’s annual petrochemical output is projected to be doubled to 120 million tons.
