The daily output from Phase 12 of the South Pars Gas Field in Bushehr province is to amount to almost 60 mcm by the end of this summer.
Announcing this, Rasoul Fallah-Nejad, the manager of the phase's development project, further said this will be achieved upon the completion of the drilling operations of three wells in platform B, Shana reported.
The wells are scheduled to become operational by the end of summer, he noted.
Fallah-Nejad put the phase's current daily production at 50 mcm.
He added at present, the SP phases 6, 7 and 8 also supply sour gas to Phase 12 refinery.
The project manager recalled that the phase's platform A was launched in early June.
Phase 12 officially went on stream in a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani in March 2015. Once fully operational, it is expected to supply 75 mcm of gas per day into the Sixth National Pipeline and produce 120,000 barrels of gas condensates and 750 tons of sulfur daily.
Divided into 29 development phases, the giant gas field contains 40 trillion cubic meters (tcm) of natural gas. It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers lie in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf while the remaining 6,000 square kilometers are located off Qatar.
The gas field is estimated to contain about eight percent of the world's reserves and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
