An economic delegation, headed by Azerbaijan’s Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev, will visit Iran next week, the Iranian ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakaeen, said.
The visit will take place August 3-4 at the invitation of Iranian Communications and Information Technology Minister Mahmoud Vaezi, IRIB quoted Pakaeen as saying on Tuesday.
Mustafayev will be accompanied by representatives Azerbaijan’s government and private companies in energy, transport, telecommunications, banking, and oil sectors.
According to Pakaeen, the two sides will discuss different issues, including connection of national rail networks, cooperation in the development of oil fields, expansion of communications and information technology systems, and facilitation of banking relations.
The ambassador also said that the two sides will also decide on holding the 11th joint economic committee meeting, which will be most likely held in Tehran in the second half of the current Iranian calendar year.
The Iranian calendar year starts on March 21.
Azerbaijan was the 12th leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2015, according to the Iran Customs Administration.
Iran exported $435.34 million of non-oil goods to Azerbaijan and imported $22.22 million of non-oil goods from the country.
In the first three months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-June 21), Iran exported $68.43 million of non-oil goods to Azerbaijan and imported $5.57 million of non-oil goods from the country.
