Turkish gas company, BOTAŞ, resumed Iran's gas import to Turkey.
State-owned crude oil and natural gas pipelines and trading company in Turkey, BOTAŞ Petroleum Pipeline Corporation declared on Sunday readiness to resume import of Iran's gas to Turkey.
National Iranian Gas Company Dispatching Director Manouchehr Taheri said Turkey's natural gas imports from Iran were halted late Monday on July 27 following a bomb attack on the pipeline 15 km (nine miles) inside Turkey near the border with Iran.
The Turkish energy ministry said in a statement the bomb, which it blamed on the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), caused a fire that was later put out. Repairs to the line took around a week to complete.
Taheri announced that 20 million cubic meters of gas are exported to Turkey per day.
During the visit of former Prime Minister of Turkey Necmettin Erbakan to Tehran, Iran and Turkey signed a 25-year contract on gas trade in 1996.
Turkey gas imports from Iran began on December 10, 2011 with nearly 66 billion cubic meters of gas being exported to Turkey.
According to the 25-year contract, Iran is to export 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey annually.
