Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Sunday that Tehran is ready to negotiate with Tokyo on the participation of Japanese companies in oil projects and upstream industries
He told IRNA on the sidelines of a meeting with a Japanese economic delegation that the two countries can cooperate in the fields of oil trade, investment in petrochemical industry as well as in trade and industry.
The minister also pointed out that Japan can also invest in Iran's LNG sector.
Also Japanese Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Daishiro Yamagiwa announced that he had discussed energy and transfer of technology to Iran.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Zanganeh, he said he held satisfactory talks with the Iranian side on oil, natural resources and other economic fields.
Underlining that after the nuclear agreement, the red light on Iran's relations has been turned into green, he said Japanese government officials and managers of 21 Japanese companies were present in the meeting which is indicative of the interest of the officials of the two countries in developing ties.
He noted that Iran-Japan relations will witness good developments in the future and will reach high levels.
The Japanese official further remarked that there are numerous fields for cooperation between the two sides, adding Japanese companies are ready to work in those areas.
Yamagiwa said a great number of companies had announced readiness to join this delegation but due to certain limitations only 21 companies were selected for coming to Iran.
The Japanese government had earlier announced that it would become involved in the energy sector after the nuclear agreement in Vienna and is willing to participate in oil, industrial and infrastructural projects.
Meanwhile, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in an announcement stressed that Yamagiwa is carrying Japan's message for the development and expansion of economic relations with Iran after the sanctions.
On this basis, Tehran and Tokyo held talks on Sunday morning with the participation of Zanganeh and Yamagiwa to sketch a road map for bilateral oil cooperation in the post-sanctions era.
It is anticipated that with the removal of sanctions, Japanese companies will have a stronger presence in Iranian oil industry projects.
On Saturday, Yamagiwa in a meeting with Governor of Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif called for using the capacities created by the nuclear deal.
Seif told the Japanese delegation that the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on enhancing trade and economic ties with Japan.
He said that Iran has plenty of capacities for investment and Japan is an advanced country in the field of industry and technology, so the huge markets in Iran and the region provide an opportunity for the production of advanced industrial goods.
He said that interaction between the banking sectors of the two countries is the key to economic relations recalling that during the sanctions, Japanese banks had assisted Iranian trade partners
